A web feed is a file that contains frequently updated information, such as news headlines, blog posts, and in the case of podcasts audio and video, that is specially formatted in a way that allows it to be subscribed to using a variety of programs called feed readers or aggregators. RSS (short for Really Simple Syndication) is the most common feed format, followed by Atom. Many sites provide RSS feeds of their most recently-updated content, and a feed reader can subscribe to many feeds (thousands or even millions) at once, allowing you to view the most recent information from a variety of sources with visiting all of the originating web sites.
