The University of Montana Alumni Association serves not only current alumni but future alumni as well. One of the ways it does this is by offering the Legacy Scholarship. This award, given to one student annually, is awarded to an individual who represents a continuation of the UM tradition.
To be eligible for this scholarship award, one of the applicant’s parents or grandparents must have attended, but need not have graduated from, The University of Montana, and the applicant must:
have attained junior status (no less than 60 earned credits) prior to the start of the fall 2013 semester, and
be considered a full-time undergraduate student for the fall 2013 and spring 2014 semesters.
The scholarship will be awarded to the student who submits the strongest application based on a review of university involvement, essay score, GPA and community service.
Dependents of a staff member of The University of Montana Alumni Relations Office or of a member of the Board of Directors of the UM Alumni Association are not eligible for the scholarship. Previous recipients are not eligible for the scholarship.
In addition to basic personal information, the application asks for a current transcript, a resume listing university involvement and community service, as well as an essay addressing the question, "How would you make an impact in the world now as a student at The University of Montana or how would you make a difference in the future?"
Completed applications are due in The University of Montana Alumni Association office, Brantly Hall, room 115 no later than 5:00 p.m. on February 22, 2013.
