2017 Charter Day Award Nominations

Nominations for Charter Day Awards are open starting in the fall and concluding in mid-December according to the individual award or requirement. The following is a complete list of all Charter Day awards and their respective descriptions. More information about individual awards will be made available in the coming weeks, so please check back regularly for updates. Nominations for 2017 Charter Day awards have closed. ASUM Student Service Award

The ASUM Student Service Award recognizes distinguished service and achievement. The award is open to all UM students and it is offered by the Associated Students of the University of Montana.

Robert T. Pantzer Presidential Humanitarian Award

The Robert T. Pantzer Presidential Humanitarian Award recognizes those who create a more humane learning environment at UM. The award is open to any person from the University of Montana or the State of Montana. The award is offered by the Provost’s Office.

Neil S. Bucklew Presidential Service Award

The Neil S. Bucklew Presidential Service Award recognizes extraordinary effort to foster an understanding throughout the community and the State of UM’s needs and strengths. The award is open to a Montanan, regardless of school affiliation, and is offered by the UM Foundation. Contact: Kara Ansotegui , Director of Stewardship, kara.ansotegui@mso.umt.edu.

Tom Boone Town and Gown Award

The Tom Boone Town and Gown Award recognizes faculty members who foster a deeper understanding between the University of Montana and Missoula. Montana Alumni Award

The Montana Alumni Award recognizes a former UM student for extraordinary service to the University. The award is open to former UM students and is offered by the UM Alumni Association. Contact: Susan Cuff, Associate Director of Alumni Relations, susan.cuff@umontana.edu 

The George M. Dennison Presidential Faculty Award for Distinguished Accomplishment

The George M. Dennison Presidential Faculty Award for Distinguished Accomplishment recognizes distinguished accomplishments that have brought significant recognition to UM at the regional and national levels. The Faculty Award is open to all tenure-track or full-time research faculty who have completed at least five years of employment with UM and whose accomplishments have brought significant recognition to the University at the regional and national levels. The George M. Dennison Presidential Staff Award for Distinguished Accomplishment

The George M. Dennison Presidential Staff Award for Distinguished Accomplishment recognizes distinguished accomplishment within the employee’s work unit that brings excellence, merit, distinction or glory to UM. The Staff Award is presented to a staff member who has completed at least five years of employment with UM and recognizes a distinguished accomplishment within the employee's work unit. Outstanding Volunteer Award

The Outstanding Volunteer Award recognizes someone who has contributed many hours of uncompensated time to UM to help meet the needs of the campus community. The award is open to non-student community members or campus employees and is offered by the Office of Civic Engagement. To nominate please download and print a nomination application and submit to Andrea Vernon in the Office for Civic Engagement, Davidson Honors College 015.

Outstanding Service to the External Community Award

The Outstanding Service to the External Community Award recognizes exceptional service to the off-campus community and positive contributions to the overall mission of the University. This award is open to all UM employees who are not faculty or administrators and is offered by Human Resource Services. John Ruffatto Memorial Award

The John Ruffatto Memorial Award recognizes UM faculty who impart practical, applicable principles into the UM classroom. It is open to tenure-track faculty and is offered by School of Business Administration.
