2018 Charter Day Award Nominations
Nominations for Charter Day Awards are open starting in the fall and concluding in mid-December according to the individual award or requirement. The following is a complete list of all Charter Day awards and their respective descriptions. More information about individual awards will be made available in the coming weeks, so please check back regularly for updates.
ASUM Student Service Award
The ASUM Student Service Award recognizes distinguished service and achievement. The award is open to all UM students and it is offered by the Associated Students of the University of Montana.
Neil S. Bucklew Presidential Service AwardThe Neil S. Bucklew Presidential Service Award recognizes extraordinary effort to foster an understanding throughout the community and the State of UM’s needs and strengths. The award is open to a Montanan, regardless of school affiliation, and is offered by the UM Foundation. Contact: Kara Ansotegui , Director of Stewardship, email@example.com.
Tom Boone Town and Gown AwardThe Tom Boone Town and Gown Award recognizes faculty members who foster a deeper understanding between the University of Montana and Missoula. The George M. Dennison Presidential Faculty Award for Distinguished AccomplishmentThe George M. Dennison Presidential Faculty Award for Distinguished Accomplishment recognizes distinguished accomplishments that have brought significant recognition to UM at the regional and national levels. The Faculty Award is open to all tenure-track or full-time research faculty who have completed at least five years of employment with UM and whose accomplishments have brought significant recognition to the University at the regional and national levels. The George M. Dennison Presidential Staff Award for Distinguished AccomplishmentThe George M. Dennison Presidential Staff Award for Distinguished Accomplishment recognizes distinguished accomplishment within the employee’s work unit that brings excellence, merit, distinction or glory to UM. The Staff Award is presented to a staff member who has completed at least five years of employment with UM and recognizes a distinguished accomplishment within the employee's work unit. Outstanding Community Engagement Award
The Outstanding Community Engagement Award recognizes important, innovative, and mutually beneficial community engagement work at the University of Montana and is open to faculty or staff. Nominees should be deeply involved with exemplary community engagement activities connecting campus to the community through volunteerism, service learning, outreach, partnership development, community based research, etc. This work may be short or long term, may be with a single or multiple community partners, and should have been active within the past two years. Recipients will be selected based on their work to improve community and establish mutually beneficial partnerships between the University and community (local, regional, rural or international). Outstanding Service to the External Community AwardThe Outstanding Service to the External Community Award recognizes exceptional service to the off-campus community and positive contributions to the overall mission of the University. This award is open to all UM employees who are not faculty or administrators and is offered by Human Resource Services. Download and print a nomination application. John Ruffatto Memorial Award
The John Ruffatto Memorial Award recognizes UM faculty who impart practical, applicable principles into the UM classroom. It is open to tenure-track faculty and is offered by School of Business Administration.
